“Wake up in Miami, beach house with no jammies” – When Bruno Mars said that…I felt it in my soul. Because I did exactly that and lived in my bathing suit during my quick weekend trip to Miami!
Hotel: We stayed at The Gates Hotel South Beach, a super cute Double Tree hotel.
- Cookies at Check-In: Because it’s a DoubleTree hotel, we got those warm, gooey, delicious cookies at check in.
- Location: Every time my cousin, Jawann, and I go to Miami, we stay somewhere on Collins Ave. The Famous Collins Avenue runs parallel to the beach. If you walk up and down Collins, you’ll find (expensive) restaurants, shops, and the Art Deco buildings that Miami is known for. Super walkable and well lit at night….I felt safe walking. Plus, we didn’t have to worry about finding parking near the beach, we left the car with valet and walked a block over to the beach each time!
- Staff: Hotel staff will make or break your stay. But the staff here were super nice giving us suggestions on where to go and eat. Everyone from security, to valet, to the bartenders on property were super nice!
- Rentals: We were sort of bummed that parking was $40 a night for valet and that we also had to pay a resort fee. But it was explained to us at check in that the resort fee covers chair rental and towel rental at the beach. All you have to do is show your room card and they will set the chairs up for you. I’m not sure if umbrellas were also included but it didn’t matter to me because I wanted to get a good tan in anyway. We were even able to order food and waters straights to our chairs on the beach.
We also went to the Tennessee Titians vs Miami Dolphins game. This was my third time attending a NFL game and my first time at the Hard Rock Stadium. It was a gorgeous stadium with fantastic views. It was a beautiful day for football.
I don’t want this post to get too long…so I’ll share some beach pictures and Wynwood Walls info and pics in Part 2!
